THE FEDERAL MAIL CONTRACT [press association.] London. 21st July
The Standard states that Mr. Hanbury, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, will on Thursday move in the House of Commons for the ratification of the Australian mail contracts; also that Mr Henniker-Heaton (Conservative member for Canterbury) will move that they be not ratified, on the ground that the Australian Governments are totally dissatisfied owing to the rate of speed, and that the contracts are inadequate and do not provide for the prohibition of the employment of coloured labour.
