NAPIER HARBOUR MATTERS.

— — ♦ [BY TELEGBAPH — PKESS ASSOCIATION..) Napier, 15th June. At a meeting of the Harbour Board it was decided to appoint Mr. J. T. Carr, the present engineer, to the post of engineer and secretary combined, at a salary of £400 per annum. Mr. Kraeft was reappointed harbourmaster and pilot, at a salary of £250, and Mr. Saunders, the present secretary, was made wharfinger at a salary of £200. The question of the Kidnappers lighthouse was considered at length, and it was decided that Mr. S. Carnell, ex-M.11.11., and Mr. M'Lean, M.H.R., should proceed to Wellington and urge on the Minister of Marine the desirability of proceeding with the work, and to protest aujainst the mones' voted being diverted towards the erection of a lighthouse on the East Cape.
