FATAL GUN ACCIDENT.

« A message waa reoeived yesterday by Inspeotor Thomson from Constable MrKinnon, of Upper Hutt, stating that a boy named Herbert' Perkins had accidentally Bhot himself olofje to the township at 2.30 that afternoon. It seems that along with a number of other boys Perkins was out shooking, and pnt his gun down in order to join with the others in stone-throwing. In picking np the gun he seized it near the muzzle. It exploded and the charge entered his head, killing him instantly. The body was carried by Guard Gough and some bystanders to the ProviDoial Hotel. The boy's parents are dead, and he had been adopted by Mr. Boyos. Tho Coroner (Mr. J. Ashoroft) will hold an inquest this afternoon.
