ALLOTTING THE WAIRARAPA FUND.

♦ r BT TILIGBAPH.— PaISB ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, 14th May. At a meeting of the General Committee of the Wairarapa fund, the report of the Subcommittee suggested that the Auckland Committee should vote j£lso (including special contributions named in the account) for the late Mrs. M'Donald's family, and .£lO to tho people at Otahnhu ; this will leave ouly two cases to be dealt with — two widows residing at Auckland. In tbe case of a widow with fonr children, the Committee recommends an appropriation of JE3SO from the Anokland fund, to be lidded to tbe £200 from Wellington, and invested in the purchase of a house. In the case of the other widow who has ono child, the committee recommends that .£3OO be handed to the Publio Trustee to be paid to the widow, at, cay, 25s a week for two years, and 10s for so long thereafter as the money will allow. Including the vote from Wellington, there is a balanoe of .£1062 17s', and the oommittee recommends its disposal as follows : — For Mrs. Veal and family, .£550; Mrs. Crouoher and child, £300; an aged couple at Otahnhu, £10 ; Mrs. M'Donald and family, £U0; total, .£lOls, leaving a balanoe of £52 175. After the preparation of the neoeßsary deeds, it is expected this balance will be reduced to .£37. The report and accounts were adopted, and the several grants mentioned were approved. It was resolved that the balance of the fund, after payment of all olaims and charges, be handed to the treasurer of the fund now being raised for the widows and orphans of the two Lauries, recently drowned in the Manakau.
