'• SEVENTT-SIX PEOPLE DROWNED. ] [PRESS ASSOCIATION* I Pakis, 28th April. : Early yesterday morning the Boußey J Reservoir, containing 7,000,000 cubic metres ' of water, burst, and inundated the country between Epinal and Cliatel, in tho Depart- '- ment of Vosges 1 » The flood destroyed six miles of banks of the Eastern Canal, and increasing in force 3 as the torrent tore down the Kpinal valloy. • swept away farm houseß, bridges, and in ' r some instances whole plantations. The water finally emptied itself in tho - Moselle River at Chatel, eleven miles distant ; from the reservoir J Numerous villages were destroyed, and not a single house remains in Bousey or Darnieulles. ' A few houses are standing at Lei Forges, whioh place was previously inhabited by 1400 people. ' Twenty-nine persons were drowned at Uxeguenoy, and altogether over fifty are drowned. Tho damage i 3 estimated at X 2.000.000. ; Terrible distress prevails in the districts ! inundated. I Received April 29, 10.30 am. Paris. 28th April. The total number of those drowned by the ; reservoir disaster was 7G.
