Reefton Mining Exchange.
[By Telegraph.] (SPECIAL TO THE EVENING POST.) Reefton, This Day. The Stock Exchange report issued at midday on Saturday is as follows :— The return of amalgam from tho Cumberland. United Alpine, Progress, Big River, Fiery Cross, Globe, and Dark Batteries for the week is 953 ounces, the two last named representing tho total from all sources. The Cumberland yield is exceptionally good, while the Alpino and Big River show substantial improvement. Tho Progress mill is not yet fully occupied. Crushing at the Golden Lead battery has been commenced, and as there is a good quantity of stuff to grass doubtless a decent-sized parcel will be treated before cleaning np. Tho machine is said to work well, and considerable importance attaches to the results, as affecting almost tho wholo of the Morrijigs district. The sharomarkot, althongh it has not boon anything approaching brisk for the week, has seen some steady business at perhaps rather averages lower rates than last week, savo in tho coso of the Cumberland which moved up to business at 17s on an excellent firm fooling. Shares aro in many lilies getting fairly woll distributed, and aa'yicHs continue good greater firmness in valuo may be looked for. Alston receded slightly towards the end of the week, but had a fair business iv the vicinity of Is Id. Big River have been somewhat quiet at a littlo below 20s, but to-day the yield from the mine is as good as over, and should make shares hardon. Blue Sky had a turn of business at a better price, and Cumberland rose from 13s to 17s. Tho stone here is yielding splendidly. Durham remain unaltered, but should bo affected by the claim just mentioned. The same applies to the Dudley. Operations in the Dark mine should lead to business in these shares ere long. Tho Exchange show an improvement, and buyers are misapplied at the
prices offering. These shares aro considerably firmer. Golden Lead has been dealt in at prices ranging between 10h and 11s. Gallants Hold to 9d, with plenty of enquiry at that figure. Homeward Bound havo beon also wanted, and thiß shows a change for tho bettor in this locality. Operations in the Inkorman mine may be expected to restore tbo property to better prominence directly. Prospects in tho respective leases of tho United, Devonshire, and Low Level Companies have made a good deal ot buHinohs within the last few days. Kapai are slightly loss active, and further results of work on the lease aro looked for any day. Lord Edvard have kept protty firm, and tna same sold at up to 3s Bd. No work is being done hero yet. No. 2 Dark keep their usual ntcady rate, and a good montwy return aud dividend will bo about on Monday Enssell havo not had bo much enquiry, and if this fact should affect the value of shares, investors will bo easier able to join m a ventnre now provod considerably beyond tho prospecting stage. Parcels of Scotia changed hands at ruling rates, and .Triumph aro saleable with good prospect of improvement if indications at tho mine load to anythin". United Alpine aro acquiring greater firmness, tho kbt week's work being the best yet from No. 7 lovol. Some business in old and now issue Welcome shares took placo yesterday at an advance on formor rates. Woalth remain firm, with very few shares offering.
