POSTED AT LLOYD'S.
TO THK EDITOR. Si b— With reference to the artiole appearing in your Monday night's issue respecting the above, it would appear that in consequence of tho ship Trevolyan having a quantity of gunpowder and a still greater quantity of spirits on board, her disappearance was not improbably attributable to one of theso two causes— barring a gale. Then yon speak of the Tower of Siloatn, &c. Thus far, undoubtedly, y< or artiole was good ; but when yon suggest that the Temperance party might possibly attempt to tarn the disappearance of the spirits into a dispensa- . tion of Providenoe —at the same time oleverly ridioulin* the idea— and then hold out an idea that the crew may have broached cargo, and thus have been the cause of tho loss of the ship, is it not time to ask — Is the Evening Post also among the prophets? ~ Eot~us hope that neithor the spirits of the departed ship nor those of its crew may gnmly haunt the preoincts of your office. I am, &0., A Friend op One on Boabd.
