THE S.S. OROWAITI IN DANGER. | By Telegraph. I [UNITED PRESB ASBOOIATION.J Webtpobt, 11th September. Bad weather prevails, and there is a heavy sea on the bar. The steamer Orowaiti, having several passengers on board, attempted to go out this afternoon, but took the ground on the bar. The seas broke over the vessel and several washed over the bridge. After some battling Captain Gibbs got his boat off and returned to the harbour. When coming up the river the current caught her on the bow and drove her on to the bank, but no damage whatever was done. The steamer is now moored. The Graf ton, which went out before the Orowaiti, lost a blade of her propeller on the bar, and remained in the roadstead some time, bnt afterwards bore away north with a fair wind, Gretmouth, 10th September. The river was very low this morning, but the bar is rough. Operations for floating the Matai are going on. The crew was discharged this morning. Captain Leys has left the Wallabi.
