The discussion terminated by a unanimous acceptance of the principle that use of pubho school buildings for religious instruction within hours provided by statute shall be encouraged rather than opposed. At a meeting of the Local Committee of the New Zealand Rifle Association a motion was carried that a letter be sent to the counoil of the Association to ask why men on reserve are debarred from competing for belts. Some members present were of opinion that as the clause was not retrospective, it only came into force with the present Act and regulations of 1883, and therefore did not apply.
