The Australian cricketers commenced their return match against eleven of Nottinghamshire, at Nottingham, to-day. The weather was fine, and a large number of spectators were present. The Australians went in first, but, owing to the excellent bowling and fielding of the Home team, only made 131. The highest scorer was Murdoch, bowled, 72. He only gave ono chanoe, and his play was much admired. The Home team then went in, and at the close of the day's play had lost fire wickets for 41. Consols remain at par. Fifty persons were killed, and a large number hare suffered injuries of a more or less serious nature.
