THE WAKANUI ELECTION.
fßt Telegraph. | , UNITBD PBKS3 ASSOCIATION.] Ashbubton, 15th March. Mr. Saundera addressed the Wakanui electors last evening, and announced himself as a candidate on. an independent tioket. At the conclusion of his remarks, one of Mr. Wason'a Committeemen asked him to state whether he had released Mr. Wason trom his pledge of support. Mr. Saundera replied that he did not desire any unwilling support, and should leave Mr. Waaon to act as his conscience dictated. Mr. Wason then mounted the platform and informed the meeting that Mr. Saunders in reply to a request of hiß (Mr. Wason's) Committee, had intimated that he did not sea fit to release him (Mr."Wason) from hia pledge of support, and he (Mr. Wason) therefore would give Mr. Saunders hearty support in the coming election, and requested bis supporters in the recent election to do the same. A vote of confidence was passed.
