Mr. Russell, one of the candidates for the Foxton District, addressed tho electors at Otaki on Thursday evening. Fir^t of all he spoke, through an interpreter, to the Maoris, who preponderated, addressing thorn on local matters and warning them against those who were buying land tor tho railways. A number of the natives put questions to Mr. Russell, and as each question was answered, the questioner exolaimed : " This is my word, I shall voti against you."
