The stringent measures which have been adopted by the Government in Ireland continue without abatement. Mr. Dillon, M. P. for Tipperary , who was released from custody in August, and Mr. Hefferman, another prominent agitator, who was also recent y released, have both been re-arrested. Mr O'Brien, the editor of the " United Ireland," the organ of tho League, has been arrested. Telegrams received to-day from America i state that the Irish agitators in that country are maddened at the action of the Irish Executive. The storm which raged yesterday on the i English coast destroyed fifty boats, and caused the death of fully two hundred Northumberland fishermen. Consols have advanced to 99. j New Zealand five per cents, have suffered j a decline of $ , and are to-day quoted at 100$ for the 10-40 loan, and 103Jfor the 1889 loan. The 4J- per cents. 1879-1904 remain at 98*. The market for colonial breadstuffs is unchanged. Adelaide wheat, ex store, 575 ; New Zealand ditto, 55s ; Adelaide flour, ex store, 425. The tota' quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,960,000 quarters. Australian tallow— Best beef, 41s Gd ; best mutton, 455. A fair demand exists for most descriptions of hides.
