The shocks were most severe in the district of Adrianople, to tho northwest of Constantinople, and at Gallipoli, at the entrance to the Sea. of Marmora. Snowstorms of extraordinary severity have fallen in tho Tyrol (Austria). So heavy and continuous was the fall that many houseß were completely buried, and n many par s of the country the inhabitants were placed in considerable danger. A Norwegian sohooner, when entering the harbour of Elsinore, a 6eaport of Denmark, came nto collision with a steam vessel, was cut to the water's edge, and foundered, evory boul on board being drowned. A discovery has been made of a plot to murder the King of Italy. The man who threatened to perpetrate the deed was arrested at Milan, »nd is now under confinement. A very heavy gale took place along the coast of Carolina, in. the United States, and a number of vessels wore driven ashore, many liveß bping lost. The exports of wheat from the United States are likely t > be affect' d by a ring. An attempt was mado by tho factors m Chicigo to control shipments, but a panic has been caused among them by the nnexpected yield. The wheat market has, in consequence, been very excited. 11th October. In consequence of tho pressure recently brought to bear on the Khedive by tho troops, who compelled him to form a new Ministry favorable to their claims, England and France have agreed to protect him against any similar pressare in future. 'Ihere have been prolonged riots in Kilkenny. The rioters offered an obstinate resistance to the police, and it was some hours Defore the disturbances wore suppressed. This was not done without some severe fighting, in the course of which several rioters were killed. A serious inundation has taken place at the fortified maritime city Cagliara, capital of the island of Sardinia. A violent storm arose, in the course of which tho sea broke into the lower parts of the town, doing a considerable amount of damage to streets and buildinps. A number of houses were entirely destroyed. An explosion took place on board an Italian brig laden with petroleum, and considerable damage was done to the ve.-sel, and several of the crew were severely injured. It is not known how the explosion occurred. Charles Jules Guiteau, the assassin of President Garfield, against whom a true bill was found by tho Grand Jury at Washington, is strictly confined to tho gaol in that city, and there has been a considerable change in his demeanour during the last few days. The opinion of the gaol officials is that he is feigning insanity.
