Tbe NZ. Shipping Company 'd Ship Waimate, loading at No. 'i Jetty, South West India Doctt, London, for Canterbury, oaaght fire on the 24th August. The after cabin on the main deck and contents were damaged by fire and water, and the c >tents of the saloon by soioke and water. Passengers per Messrs. Shaw, Savill & Co.'s ?uckluna (1244 tons, Captain fil'Dougal), which left London for Wellington on 19th August :— Saloon— O. W. Taylor. Second Cabin— Albert Temple, John M'Laren and Herbert Mattick. Steerage— Charles, John and Walter Perm ; Sydney, John and Cecil Gilliland ; Arthur (2), Sarah, Srneet, Amy and Edith Wiffin; John, Beßßie, Tom and Herbert Davy ; George, Mrs. and Nora Parkhouse; John and Sarah Copethorne, Jane and Amelia Routledgo, Kaohel and William Fletcher, Emma Evans, William Martin, John Hall, J. Cunningham, Thomas Olay and T. H. Hudson. The following vessels were loading for this port at the end ot August :— Margaret tialbraith 840 tons, at London ; Orari, 1011 tons, at London ; Perthshire, 690 tons, at Glasgow. The Wilhelmine cleared at Archangel (Russia) on the 27th July for Wellington.
