WRECK OF THE BRIGANTINE SWALLOW.

Fortunately all hands were saved. The Swallow sailed from Ly tteltou lut Thursday. The dWsUr appear* to Have boon caused by thick weather, the' coast not being sighted until too late to avert the catastrophe. The vessel is a total wreck*, and has sunk in ehllldW WAteP. An official en<pi{ry fg tO t>Q heW shortly at Picton,- whither the captain and crew managed to find their way safely. She was bound for Newcastle in ballast. No lives were lost. The captain and crew are here. The captain states that the weather was thick, and he did not see the coast in time to prevent her going on the rocks. The captain returned from the wreck this morning and reports that the vessel has gone down, and only a small piece of the port rail is out of water." (per pkbßß agency.) Blbnubim, This Day. The Swallow, barquentine, from " f ttelton for Newcastle, which passed Cape Campbell on Friday night, at a distance of seven miles, with a B.E. wind, struck on a sunken rock to the south of the entrance to Tory Channel, tbe captain being under the imr 'on that he Was off Palliser. On Satur ... •> crew took to tbe boats, ana left ever,, ming on board. Pulling southward, at daybreak they met the whalers, who showed them the way to Picton, reaching there on Saturday night. On Sunday the steamer Torea went to the wreck, and found tho vessel had broken her back. Tho captain and crew recovered their clothes from tbe natives, but not thoir money or the chronometer.
