(PROM OtJR OWN COfcRISPONDEJTI.) OAMARU. 2nd January. Yesterday was observed as a close holiday. The weather, with the exception of s few short bat pretty heavy showers daring the afternoon, was fine. About 6,000 attended the Caledonian gathering, which was a great sticeem, the whole of the events being closely contested by large fields. ; To-day the weather is glorious, and the attendance at the second day's sports was large, tbongh the day was not observed as a> gessral holiday. Hundreds of people came in by train from all parts of the country yesterday, and there was a very large muster of visitors today.
