CHESS TOURNAMENT.
HOUSE OP REPRESENTATIVES V. CITY OP WELLINGTON. The chess tournament between five gentler men, members of, or connected with, the House of Representatives, and five players of the City of W ellington, commenced last evening at Mr. Hunter's rooms, the result being to show a remarkable degree of equality between the two sides as'to relative strength. Of the nine games played, four were won by each side, and one was drawn, the score standing as under : — Benbow v. Bryce ... Benbow ... City Rees v. Brown... Brown ... do Skey v. Lusk ... L'us"k ... House Greenwood v. Orbell ...Greenwood -k Reeves v. Ballance Balance... o^ - Reeves v. Skey ... skey ' /. .Li C%' i Brown v. Lusk ... drawn ... do Greenwood v. Benbow Benbow ... do Orbell v. Bryee ... Bryce ... House The match will be resumed on Saturday evening next, in the Chess Club's new room behind Mr. Budge's saloon, Willis-street.
