? THIS DAY. * joY Leave of absence for seven days was given to Mr. Bastings, and fourteen days to Mr. Laruach. The Native Minister' saldT'tl was intended to place a sum on the supplementary estimates to compensate the natives for the destruction of their sheep or otherwise, to eradicate scab in the East Coast district. The Native Minister intimated that, prior to dealing with the Orders of the Day, he intended to make a statement on the subject of native land purchases.
