WAIROA. 19th September.

The military settlers are at last located on their land, and the corps disbanded, with the exception of fifty non-commissioned ofltcera and men. The selection of land took place r on the 13th instant, but owing "to there not being a sufficiency surveyed for both officers and men, some of the former waived their rights of choosing until more was laid off. A new to\raship.has !r been thus established in tMo"^urishmg"little settlement; it is situated- iii arnosfc beautiful spot, at the junction of the Waiau river -with the Wairoa; and lias the advantagesof exceedinglyfertile soil, plenty of good water carriage, of sufficient depth to allow a steamer like the Sturfc to go right up to the place^ Ivunderstand the town is to be called after the justly esteemedi commariding'offioer of t&e East Coast expedition, that is, "Fraser's Town." It is but a small tribute the military settlers offer their ; deservedly popular comnmnder by-naming, their township after him ; but, small as it is, it shows their sincere esteem. The greater portion of the men have already set to work in good, earnest; axes and spades, and in one or two instances oxen and ploughs, Tare busilyvengaged pand I have no doubt that if they continue as they have begun, they will do well. No little, credit is due to Mr. Burton for the manner in which he-has selected the land, for.he, certainly nas picked the cream of the block ; every one of them has good agricultiiraWand, and I wish them every success — Correspondent of the Hawke's Bay Herald.
