Doyleston
BAZAAR NEXT THURSDAY
EFFORT IN AID OF HALL
FUNDS
I Final touches were put to the arrangements for the bazaar to be held at Doyleston Hall next Thu:-^----day at a meeting of the bazaar committee which was held last evening. The day is now being awaited, with confidence that the effort will be most successful. The stall-holders have been busily engaged in preparing goods for sale and there will be a plain and fancy stall, cakes and sweets, produce, as well as the refreshments and the usuals odds and ends which are always found at bazaars and which never fail to be good sources of revenue. The bazaar will be opened on Thursday afternoon by Mr A. N. Grigg, M.P., for Mid-Canterbury. A feature of the evening sessfon will be ,the presence of the Methven Pipe Band, an organisation which proved to be a very popular one on a previous visit. The ready response made by the people of the district to the appeal for donations of produce or goods for the bazaar, and the interest taken in it generally, encourages the promoters to confidently anticipate that a substantial sum will, as a result of the effort, be made available for the necessary alterations to and enlargement of the hall, which is the objective of the bazaar. It is a worthy one too, for the provision of a wellappointed hall for the social and community purposes is an asset to the district. The hall has been made use of to a large extent during recent years and the work proposed to be done on it is well-worth while and fully justified by results.
