Tai Tapu

There was a good attendance of members and visitors at the Tai Tapu Golf Club's official opening of the links on Saturday. The ceremony was performed by Sir R. Heaton Rhodes. In the evening a dance was held in the Tai Tapu Hall, when there was again a large attendance. Music for dancing was provided by J. W. Stewart's Orchestra. Mr W. G. Macartney, on behalf of the Golf Club, and Mr J. Miller, of the Waihora Football Club, presented Mr R. G. Anderson with a travelling rug as a token of appreciation from the members of the clubs. Mr Anderson,

who is leaving the Ladbrooks district, was secretary to the Golf Club, and an energetic member of the Waihora Football Club for a number of years.

The results of the Tai Tapu Tennis Club's handicap tournament were as follows:—In the final of the women's handicap singles for the Wheeler cup, Miss Rene Dulieu beat Miss Mollie J. Ryan. In the men's handicap singles final for the Ward memorial cup, N. J. Mackenzie defeated S. Mackenzie. Miss L. Newall and Mr lan Wilson beat Miss Mollie J. Ryan and Miss K. Mangels in the final of the handicap doubles for the Suckling memorial cup.

Miss Rene Dulieu is spending a holiday in Christchurch.
