Mr J. Pye, a well-known Rakaia business man, has been seriously ill for several days.
Mr James Simpson, of Milltown, Southbridge, left by last night's steamer for Wellington, en route to Hamilton, where he will attend the annual meeting of the New Zealand Pig Breeders' Association and a meeting of the New Zealand Pig Breeders' Council, of which he is the South Island representative.
