NIGHT CIRCLE

MONTHLY MEETING.

Miss R. Bowden presided over the monthly meeting of the Leeston Night Circle, held in the Presbyterian Sunday Schoolroom last evening. There was a large attendance of members, and Miss Riddle and Miss Kitto, a former member, were welcomed by the president. Misses D. Boal and E. Home were elected new members and welcomed into the circle. A most interesting and instructive talk on "Travels to West Australia and Dutch East Indies," was given by Miss Riddle, of Fairlie, who was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks. The competition for an article made from any demonstration, was won by Miss M. Cook, with Miss F. Hickman second and Miss C. Cooke third. The hostesses for the evening were Misses Mary Brizzle, Joan Smith, Jean Watson, Eileen Murphy, Betsy Woodard and Doreen Savage.

Marshall (Killinchy), Dorothy Brady (Rangiora), Ella Brady, Violet Scales, G. Campbell, Alma Smith, Thecla Riordan, Molly Riordan, Carmel Smith, Sina Smith (Kaikoura), Monica Ryan, Patricia Murphy, Jessie Wright, Constance O'Gorman, Molly Ryan, Agnes Fitzpatrick, Marie Brown, Nance Ryan, Kathleen Henley, Eileen Manion, Betty and Joy Vincent (Pendalton), Merle Heywood and L. Gudsell.

On Saturday evening a dance and card evening was held under the auspices of the Lincoln Hall Committee. The winners of a Monte Carlo novelty dance were Miss Madge Rickerby and Mr Len Bennett. There were many card players in the anteroom, the most successful being Mrs Moreland and Mr H. Silvester. Music for dancing was supplied by Collins's Band, and Mr B. Moran was master of ceremonies.

The Lincoln women's hockey team travelled to Christchurch on Saturday afternoon to play West Christchurch at Hagley Park. After a strenuous game neither side was able to score, the game resulting in a draw. Mr McCracken was the re-
