CARNIVAL.

CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS

Weather conditions were ideal yesterday afternoon, when the annual swimming sports of the Southbridge District High School were held. It is of interest to note that these sports are controlled by the pupils themselves, a committee representative of the secondary and primary departments drawing up the programme and making the handicaps and other necessary arrangements. Mr Couch acted as starter, Messrs Mackie and Thompson as judges and Mr W. Nidd junr. as timekeeper.

Competition for championship in the secondary department was keen Joyce Beamsley winning it in the girls' event and Jim Beamsley and and W. Hannah being equal in the boys'. Cups are awarded to the championship winners, and the A. J. Inwood cxxp is the prize in the relay race. Results of the various races are given below:— SECONDARY DEPARTMENT.
