TALKIES AT SOUTHBRIDGE
"FANNY FOLEY HERSELF."
RKO Radio Pictures' comedy drama "Fanny Poley Herself" which will be screened at the Southbridge Town Hall on Saturday next, is a refreshing story presenting a noval plot of mother-love, comedy, sacrifice and romance. It presents filmdom's newest star, Edna May Oliver. It will be the first picture to be shown at Southbridge with the new technicolor process and is filled with magnificent settings in their natural colour.
Miss Oliver is "Fanny Foley Herself," and the tale is as intriguing as Miss Oliver. She is a vaudeville star and as the story opens she is notified of the death of her husband, who, with her two daughters, wa» retunfing home from a pleasure jaunt in Europe. He was the son of a multimillionaire, and had been disinherited by his crabbed old father who believed the family disgraced by the marriage. The story reaches its highest pathos when the girls, seeing their mother in action on the stage for the first time, are ashamed of her. The real action resolves from this point, when the old millionaire sets out to save the family name by attempting to lure the girls from Fanny and to buy her from the stage. The usual strong list of supports include: Pathe News, "Stung," novelty item; "Jungle Jam," cartoon; Fcx Australian News and "Lemon Meringue," a comedy.
