MUTTON-TOWN POINT.
—o—(FUOM a. CORRESPONDENT.) Since my last I have visited the workings of Mr. William Jamieson, an old mining resident of this district, who has, after three yearr’s perseverance, combined with a great expense, succeeded in bringing up a splendid tail race from the edge of the river to work ground in the flat, and 1 am very happy to say Veen rewarded by striking payable gold. Mr. Jamieson’s name has hitherto been unnoticed.; but I am quite sure nobody could rule up the west side of the Molyneux, past Mutton-town Point, without being attracted by his beautiful little residence and garden, com • complete with '"bearing fruit trees and flowers of every descrip ion, and those who know him personally will, I am sure, be glad to hear of his success, and wish him health and prosperity to enjoy the fruits of his past years of inlustry, integrity, and perseverance. To give some idea of the undertaking, it map be stated that the tailrace is over six hundred feet in length and over forty feet in depth, through a heavy wash, and the work in connexion with it is of a most permanent character, not to surpassed, even if equalled, iu the whole district. Messrs. Plunkett Brothers, who have been working for four or five years at Sandy Hook, have sold out, and, I am sorry to say, intend to leave the district. It is a great piity to lose such men as these, for they are scarce. Messrs. Sleven, Fox, and Ryan have removed their water to Sandy Hook, and expect, from pr. vious prospecting, to be well repaid for the trouble of taking their large body of water to their new workings. Thekliit 'or j,Miss Cmpany are now in splendid working order. This company of hardy men are not to be beaten. After being flooded out twice, they have succeeded in bottoming, and, under the skillful management of Air. Janies Craig, are making good pirogress in discovering the hidden treasures in this part of the river. Let us hope their labors will meed with adequate re wal'd.
