TRIUMPH BREAKING UP.
Auckland, This day
The Triumph parted her cable during Sunday night, and was driven broadside on to the cliff, with her propeller out of the water, and a hole knocked in her engineroom. Tho Triumph is now breaking up. The sea last night drove her further on the rocks, and was nfaking clean breaches over her, while to-day it is found that the bottom is out of the forehold. The engine-room and No 2 compartment are full of water, and the foremast is sagging. Captains Worsp and Clayton and Mr Frascr went down last night, and made a survey. They recommend that everything that can be got out of her be taken out at once, and she be sold. This will bo done. The ollieial enquiry is arranged to take place on Thursday next. A. steamer and a barge have gone down with a winch to remove the engine, threshing machines, and other largo packages of cargo for southern ports.
