A concert and cantata, " NeAv Year's Eve," in aid of the Napier district school prize fund, will be given in the Theatre Royal at 8 o'clock to-night. Members of the Rifle Volunteers who have not gone through judging distance drill parade at 7 o'clock this evening opposite the Athcnceum. Members of the L.0.L., No. 5, meet at the Protestant Hall to-night. The thirty-third call of threepence a share in the Southern Cross Petroleum Company is payable at the company's office in Christchurch to-morrow. The creditors of Robert Walter Chapman, baker, of Waipukurau, hold a meeting at the Court House, Napier, at 2 p.m. tomorrow, for the purpose of assenting to a deed of arrangement made for their benefit. Tendei'3 for the supply of rations, fuel, ironmongery, clothing, and other accessories to tho Napier prison, from January 1. to December 31, 1881, Avill be received by the Visiting Justices at the prison up to noon to-morrow. M cssrs Banner and Liddle publish particulars of clips to be offered at their wool sale on Thursday. The- avool will bo on show to-morrow afternoon at their Spit stores. A fancy bazaar and musical entertainment in aid of the Clivc district school prize fund Avill be held in the school-room on Friday and Saturday next. A summoned meeting of the creditors of Henry Selig is convened to be held at tho Cuurt House, Napier, on Monday, 17th instant, Avhcn the debtor makes application for certificate of compliance with tho provisions of the Bankruptcy Acts, and notice is also given that at the next sittings of the Supreme Court in bankruptcy the debtor will make application for his discharge.
The programme of tho Caledonian sports to be held at Pctane on New Year's Day is published. Mr S. E. Cooper, jeweller, has received, the latest novelties from London in electroplated goods, suitable for Christmas and wedding presents. Rymer's coach from Taradale via Meance will in future arrive in Napier at 2.30 p.m., instead of 1.15 as heretofore. The Borough Council invites fresh tenders for the construction of a footpath, kerbing, and channelling in Shakespeare road from Clyde road to Cootc road. Beyond all comparison the best tables are at Blythe's. Mr George Scarfo is now offering all his fancy goods, confectionery packets, lollies, ivc.,' at considerably under price, and to cash customers presents to children will bo
