A CHINAMAN COMMITS SUICIDE.

Ah Ouso, a cousin of Ah Chin, who was murdered at Shingle Creek four or five months ago, and Avho has boon in a desponding state of mind over since the death of his relative, committed suicide here at 7 a.m. yesterday by droAvniiig himself. Ho AA-as to haA-e been taken to Dunedin on account on bis unusual and peculiar actions of
late, but Avhilo his mate Avas preparing breakfast for him ho went outside, proceeded doAvn to tho rh-ei- (a distance of tAvcnty yards or so), took off his boots ancl coat, and jumped off a projecting ledge of rock into 'the river. The current at this point is Aery strong, and ho must havo immediately boon carried out into mid-stream and doAvn the river, as the spot has been dragged Avithout discovering any signs of the body. He seemed never to have recovered from tho shock occasioned by the death of his relative.
