Among the through passengers from Sydney by the mail steamer City of Noav York wero the Hon. C. 11. Bromby, of Tasmania, who is reported to be ou a lecturing tour; Mr .)'. M. Knox, connected Avith the Colonial Sugar AVorks Company ; and Capt. B. Gilboy, who recently attempted to make a voyage'from San Francisco to Australia in a small open boat, and Avas picked up by a .steamer in a very exhausted condition throe hundred miles off the coast of Queensland. Tho City of Noav York had besides thirty saloon and forty steerage passengers from Sydney for San Francisco and Honolulu. She has on board £10,000 in specie for Honolulu and £11 7,800 for San Francisco, shipped at Sydney. From Auckland tho City of New York took specie amounting to £49,445, of Avhich £20,120 was shipped by the National Bank and £20,325 by "the Bank of Noav Zealand. Mr Thomas Russell, C.M.G., avus also a passenger for San Francisco.
