HAMILTON SCHOOL : ANNIVERSARY SOIREE.
The Hamilton district school anniversary soiree and ball was held in the Hamilton Hall on Tuesday, March 7. Owing to the unsettled state of the weather, the attendance waa not so numerous as we could have wished : nevertheless, after paying all expenses there will be about £10 clear, which sum will be applied to the liquidation of the school's liabilities. On Wednesday the children with their brothers and sisters were entertained in Mr. Pennington's paddock. About 125 boys and girls were plentifully supplied with cake and tea, provided by the School Committee and friends. The building occupied as a schoolroom is about to be removed from the redoubt to a site opposite the post-office. In the meantime Mr. Farrell has kindly allowed the school to be held in the Hamilton Hall until the building is reerected.—[Correspondent.]
