TUAKAU: THE RAILWAY TERMINUS.

Considerable disappointment has been felt in this district in consequence of the publication in the Herald of a statement to the effect that the terminus of the Auckland and Drury Railway was to be altered in favour of Point Russell. From inquiry made I am happy to state there wag no foundation for the report, as Dr. Corbett has received a communication from Mr. Wrigg, C.E., stating that he had not recommended any alteration as to the departure from Tuakau of the terminus. It is believed that in the Auckland and Drury Railway Bill passed this settlement is specially named as the point at which the present contemplated railway will finish. I am given to understand that a considerable difference has been found betweenthe survey made so far and that completed under Mr. Stewarts superintendency. I have it on the best authority that it would be a most difficult matter to settle finally the terminus until the whole survey is finished, and I should not be at all surprised if, when the whole of the work is completed and the final report forwarded to Mr. Blackett, the Colonial Engineer, it will not be found necessary to get an amended Railway Bill introduced and passed, with regard to the undertaking in question, — [Correspondent. ]
