MAUNGATUROTO.

The annual meeting of settlers of the Wairau Highway District wa§ held on Tuesday, October 6, at the Post-office, Maungaturoto, Mr. John fiun dall in the chair. The accounts for the ourrent year, as per annexed abstract, were duly audited and parsed ; and a resolution cairied unanimously tendering a vote of thank* to the out-going trustee! for their assiduous attention to the duties of the offioe during tbe past ye«r. The trustees elected for tbe ensuing year are John Hurndall, Joseph B. Mason, Frederio E. Rosier, Waller Rowsell, and Rowland J. Howard. A rate for the ensuing year of Id. per acre was proposed by Mr. Mason, seconded by Mr. Massey ; to which an amendment was i rnposed by Mr. Gummkb, seconded by Mr. Rosskr, that the rate be fixed at one farthing per acre. The amendment, though unsupported by the meeting, was carritd by the proxies held by the mover and seconder.
