General Road Repairs. Superintendent's Office, Auckland, April 9, 1857. 'TENDERS will be received at this office until -*- noon of Saturday, the 18th instant, from persons willing to undertake to keep in repair one or more of the undermentioned divisions of Roads for the six monihs en ling the 30th September' 1857. OXEHUNGA ROAD. From the Bridge in Mechanics' Bay, Auckland, to the Prince Albert lun, Epsom. From the Prince Albert Inn, to Beattie's corner, Onehunga. From Beattie's corner, pist the New Leith Inn to the Royal George Inn, and from thence the newly formed roads of Princes-street and Queenstreet on to Beattie's corner. GREAT SOUTH ROAD. From its junction with the Onehunga road to the Harp Inn at the junction of Panmure Road. From the Harp Inn to the Commercial Inn, Otahuhu. From the Commercial Inn, to the termination of the metalled road at Clow's HOWICKROAD. From the Punt to the White Bridge. Tenders to be submitted separately for the whole of each division, as specified, and not at the rate of portions thereof. The Material to be used in repiirs must be of the same description as that of which the road was last formed. The names of two sureties willing to guarantee f he duo performance of the works will be required to be submitted with each tender. J. Williamson, Superintendent.

i T a Meeting of the B nrd of E htcation held *■*- on the 6th instant, it was resolved to advertise in the public papers, that the Board is now in a position to receive applications from patrons or managers of schools who wish to avail themselves of the benefitsof the Education Act, and to forward to them lists of queries to be answered and copies of regulations to be observed in schools connected with the IBoard, and also to furnish teachers who are desirous of becoming Candidates for certificates of the first or secoud degree of merit, with lists of the Subjects for examination. Agreeably with this resolution it is hereby requested that a ] l intended applications from patrons or managers of schools, or from teachers, be forwai dod without delay to Archibald Clark p]sq., Chairman of the Board. Auckland, 9th April, 1857.
