Mangonui County Council’s Stand (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WHANGAREI, October 19. Following the receipt of advice from the Minister of Finance, Mr. Nash, that subsidies due to the council by the Public Works aud Valuation Departments arc Io lie (liveried io the Mnngonui Hospital Board, the Mangpnui County Council yesterday decided to suspend maintenance on the main highways within its urea. 'rhe letter from the Minister stated that the diversion had been arranged under seel ion 51 of (be Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, .1926, following information that the council bud decided not to pn.v its allocation of tlie hospital levies for the current financial year. The action bad been taken at the hospital boa rd's request. the Minister stated.
