Christmas Parcels For Forces Overseas

A reduced' postage rate for the heavier Christmas parcels for members of the New Zealand forces in the Middle East. Great Britain, Canada and elsewhere was announced yesterday by the PostmasterGeneral. Mr. Webb. The rates will 'be: For parcels not exceeding 31b., 1/-; for parcels weighing between 31b. and 111 b., 2/-. “The effect of the concession is that parcels weighing up to 111 b. -will be accepted for 2/-, whereas, normally, this rate applies to parcels weighing not more than 71b.,” said Mr. Webb. He added that the concession, which is in respect of. Christmas postings only, will apply for ;the following periods to the countries concerned :—United Kingdom, Middle East, Africa, India, etc., from September 1 to September 30; Canada and other parts of North and South America and West Indies, from October 1 to October 31; Australia. Fiji and Pacific Islands, from October 15 to November 15. It was particularly desirable that Christmas parcels for the Middle East be posted as early as possible during September, said the Minister.
