Marshal Tito simultaneously has launched a counter-offensive in Slovenia aimed at striking against the weakened German garrisons, and battles are raging along a wide sector facing the Austrian province of Carinthia, where Austrian patriots have been carrying out hit-and-run raids against German border patrols and garrisons. Partisan mountain brigades are also heavily engaging Germans in the Savinsken Alps and north of the Snva River, along the Austrian border.
