GREAT ALLIED TASKS
(Received May 28. 7 p.m.) LONDON, May 27. His Majesty the King has sent the following message to the Allied Commander-in-Chief in the mediterranean theatre. General Maitland Wilson: “Will yon please convey to General Alexander and all under his command, my heartfelt congratulations on the notable successes they are achieving in what we all know to be an exceptionally difficult, hard-fought action. I pray that those successes may continue till the enemy forces in Italy are finally overwhelmed.” . . The New Zealand High Commissioner in London. Mr. Jordan, in a message to General Freyberg. says: “The thoughts and prayers .of the New Zealanders in Britain are with you and all under your command in the great task in which you •ire engaged. Everyone has complete confidence in yon. and realizes the enormity and responsibility of the undertaking.
