Meeting Of Council
The Wellington Free Kindergarten Council met on Monday, Mrs. .1. A. Doctor presiding. .During the mouth the annual meeting of the women's auxiliary had been held, when Mrs. D. C. Peacock was re-elected president and Mrs. Desmond White secretary. Mrs. Simpson wtrs appointed delegate to the council for the ensuing year, and Miss llempton was thanked for the generous service she had given as delegate during the past year. The various mothers’ clubs held their annual meeting in March. Reports and balance-sheets were outstanding in every way, and showed the important part that the clubs now take in kindergarten activities. The council is planning to hold a jumble sale on Friday and in May another white elephant auction will be held. Mr. Johnston will again act as auctioneer. Beautiful goods have already been promised, and it is expected that the sale will be an even greater success than last year’s. It wrrs reported that the total amount collected on the street day was £317, this being a record sum and showing the extent to which the public now recognized the work. Mrs. Duff, a newly-elected member of the council, was welcomed.
