ANNUAL BALL

Scottish Harriers And Athletic Club At the annual ball of the Scottish Harriers and Amateur - Athletic Club held in Wellington last night, the presentation of club trophies was a feature of the entertainment. These were presented by the mayor of Wellington, Mr. T. O. A. Hislop,' who is vice-president of the club. Mrs. Hislop was also present. The president, Mr. W. Ballantyne, was host, and he was assisted in welcoming guests by, the hostess, Mrs. Silver. A grandson of the president, Mr. R. J. Ballantyne, won the club championship and received the trophy at the presentation ceremony, which took place before supper. In addition. to. the eight club trophies, attendance badges were present-, ed to those members who had been present: at. each Saturday’s run during the season. Several received badges for attending every run in two or three seasons. Five successful members received A team badges, one for tie first time, the other four adding a bar to their already won badges. Dance committee conveners were Messrs. D. S. Woodley, honorary secretary, A. Reeve, A. C. Jones and A. 0. Hudson. Supper conveners were Messrs. Woodley, D. McGruer and J. Riddington. Mrs. P. H. Holmes was in charge of the banquet supper arrangements, assisted by many women helpers, some of whom were mothers of club members. During the evening, Miss Patricia Moore, a 10-year-old girl, gave an exhibition of Highland dancing.
