W.A.A.F.’S AT WORK

Lady Newall’s Visit To R.N.Z.A.F. Station Keen interest in the work being, done by the girls was shown by her Excellency, Lady Newall, when she visited the R.N.Z.A.F. station, RongOtai, yesterday morning and watched members of the W’omen’s Auxiliary Air Force busy in their various departments. Her Excellency was accompanied by Group Captain S. Wallingford, honorary A.D.C. On arrival, she was met by Wing Commander T. W. White, commanding officer, Wing Commander A. J. Manson, M.C., Flight Lieutenant S. A. Noble, adjutant, Mrs. F. I. Kain, chief supervisor, W.A.A.F., and Mrs. S. Julius, station supervisor, W.A.A.F. Lady Newall’s tour included a visit to W.A.A.F. House, the girls’ clubrooms. She saw the work being done by the W.A.A.F’s in the hospital and dental sections, in the kitchen, equipment depot, repair shops, transport section, technical training school and Y.M.C.A. Her Excellency met section leaders among the W.A.A.F’s and officers in. charge of departments. Speaking to the girls, Lady Newall congratulated them on tbeir fine contribution to the war effort, and wished them continued success In tbeir work. The W.A.A.F’s in New Zealand were a similar body to the W.A.A.F’s in England, and she told the girls something of what their British sisters in this branch of the service's were doing.
