Progress In Hastings COST ABOUT £70,000 Dominion Special Service. HASTINGS, January 31. Building operations are proceeding rapid!v ou the new cool store which is being erected in Hastings to handle the Hawke’s Bay fruit crop.. The cost ot the building will probably be iu the vicinity of £70.000, and it will provide a floor space of 80.000 square feet, with a capacity for 60,000 cases of fruit, m cool store. . The laying of the iotindaliotis is at present providing work for 50 men, and once the superstructure, which will contain 500.000 super feet of timber, is started, the number of men engaged will be increased to 150. Labour is at present obtainable, but when the number of hands is increased, it may be necessary to make a call ou other places. The Government, has ensured that sufficient supplies of insulating material are available. Provision is made for a road to run along both the front and the southern side of the building, and on the eastern side there will be a special railway siding.
