DIVERSE PROGRAMME

Entertaining Evening At Repertory Social Diverse entertainment, of a pleasant variety, that included a one-act play, sketches, songs ami monologues, was presented at: the Wellington Repertory Tlx-a I re's monthly social evening in St. Francis Hall last night. Proceeds, as usual, were for patriotic funds. As a result »f the previous month's even ing, the sum of 117/10/- was contributed Io the fund. Members in uniform present were guests of the society.

The one-act play by F. M. Watson, “When Peacocks Sing,” opened, the programme. The scene was laid in the lounge of an “advanced’ club, the cast being as follows: David Martin, played by George Vincent; Jessie, U maid. Mrs. Night McCartney; " Olg-i Day, Natalie Whiteman; Henry Lovat. Robert Charlton; Jean Lovat, Dorothy Barr. The play was produced by Cedric E. Gardiner. '[’he second offering was a comedy sketch, “The Irish Way.” The characters were: Moira. Margaret CairnsCowan: Michael. Janies Crawford; Dan, Ernest 14. Le Grove. Another sketch, by Douglas FiU'ber. was “Take No Notice,” the two players being Irving Terry, acted by a. O. Meany, and Htheline Irving Terry, Geraldine Litchfield. Tlie last item was provided by Miss G. Helen Gnrd’ner's “Blue Girls,” wlio appeared in songs, sketches and monologues. Solo numbers were given by Joyce Webster and Hilda Webster (songs), Ngaire Carver and Monica Bell (monologues), and Annette Dunbar Sloane (sketches). Perl ormers in “Country Store” were: Joan I lack, Monica Beil, Marjorie Keegan, Wynne Murie; others taking part being Nola Hammond', .Marjorie BrookeWhite and Hazel Hogg.

Incidental music was provided by Mrs. Charles McDonald and the Missses Ormi Reid and Olga Burton. An orchestra played for dancing, which began after supper. The hostess for the evening was Mrs. S. S. Tingey. assisted by Mrs. Night Macartney, Mrs. G. C. Boyes, Mrs. R. E. Brown, Misses Fleenor ajnl Betty Page, Lola and Runty Tingey. Among those in Hie audience were Mr. and Mrs. E. W. G. Coleridge. Miss Mollie Coleridge, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Le Grove, Dr. and Mrs. W. F. Sliirer, Mr. and Mrs. G. 11. A. Swan, Mr. and Mrs. Cedric Gardiner, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Herd, Mr. ami Mrs. Edgar Kain, Mr. and Mrs. A.
