He congratulated Lower Hutt Red Cross on its wonderful achievement in raising nearly fGOOO for the Sick and Wounded Fund. This was far in excess of the quota originally set and proved what enthusiasm and co-operatiou could do. In outlining the plan for the forthcoming Red Cross pageant and eelebrily concert to be held ii/Vlio Wellingloil Town Hall on Sopteinber IS for Wellington centre normal activities funds, the lion, treasurer pointed out. that, because of tlie activities of the Red Cross Society during the last eight monlhs in organizing and raising more than £70,000 in the Wellington centre itself, that was from Upper Hutt and Waikanae to Wellington, they had to defer raising their usual fluids for normal activities. As the centre had no funds now available, lie felt: sure that the Lower Hutt people would willingly get behind the pageant and help (heir centre In establishing itself lliitincitrlly.
