Just before 11 o’clock this morning, when the leading ships of a convoy were in the Strait of Dover, there was a roar of gunfire from tbe French coast. Watchers on the south coast of England saw the fire of the guns. As the bombardment became more intense warships convoying the vessels put up a smokescreen. The Egyptian Prime Minister, after a live-hour secret session of Parliament, this morning told newspaper men in Cairo that Egypt would declare war if her territory were invaded or her army attacked. The Egyptian Minister of War, said that one Egyptian mobile division had already taken up a strategic position, and tlie army was ready to fight if attacked.
