United Australia And Country Parties (Received August 21, 11.55 pan.) CANBERRA, August 21. The Federal Country Barty lias agreed to form a united front with the United Australia Barty, on which to tight the coining election. A joint policy will lie drawn up by the leaders of the two parties. BRIEF CAMPAIGN Australian Elections On September 21 CANBERRA. August 20. The Prime Minister, Mr. R. G. Men zies, announced today that the Federal election for the Senate and the House of Representatives will be held on September 21. Nomination day will be September 7. The House of Representatives will dissolve not later than next. Monday. Complete arrangements have been made to enable Australian troops overseas to record their votes. The election campaign will be one of the shortest on record. It. will mostly lie confined to the newspapers and radio, though Mr. Menzies hopes to cover as much of Australia as possible.
