WAR TAXATION
Viewed With Relief In Hastings
Dominion Special Service. HASTINGS, September 28. The general attitude of Hastings people toward the war taxation proposals announced last night seems to be one of relief. During the past few days a number of disquieting rumours concerning, the Government’s intentions had been circulated, and business men at least seem to feel that the measures adopted are not as bad as they might have been under the circumstances.
Tobacconists state that there has been surprisingly little comment on the tobacco tax, which was operative today.
