Musical Afternoon For Nursery Funds •

Bright sunshine flooded the reception roopis for the musical party which was given yesterday at Mrs. A. Longmore’s home in Brougham Street for the funds of the Residential Nursery. Lovely flowers and bright fires added their touch of brightness and guests spent a most enjoyable time in these restful surroundings listening to the programme.

Ag a compliment to the hostess, who had lent her home the previous day for a similar gathering, the programme was opened by Mr. T. Wood, who sang “God Bless This House.” Mrs. Longmore was assisted in looking after the guests by Mrs. T. F. Walshe, president of the Oriental Bay-Roseneath branch of the Residential Nursery, Mesdames Turner, Bowater, Stringer and W. Burton. At the conclusion of the musical items a delicious afternoon tea was served. Items were given by the following artists-: Miss T. McLeod, ’cello solos; .Miss Ethel Gibson, violin solos; Mrs. W. Duncan and Mrs. R. Bradley, songs; Mrs. Duncan and Mrs. Ashwin, duets; Mrs. Ashwin. solos; Mr. G. Stewart, songs; Miss Seymour, humorous recitations. Miss Lois Ramsey accompanied the singers. Before the gathering dispersed a vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Longmore for her hospitable gesture and guests joined in singing “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow.” Thanks are due to Mr. Frank Campbell for lending *hairs and to the Open'Warehouse for the use of crockery. Guests included Mesdames P. Fraser, J. W. Andrews (Hutt), 11. Vickerman, Cowles, Londius, Frank Campbell, Fouvel, W. H. Gledhill, Forbes, Spence, Oakes. Ames, C.
