NURSES' MEMORIAL FUND
The number of claims on the New Zealand Nurses’ Memorial Fund is not decreasing, according to the report to be presented at the annual meeting in Dunedin today. The number of annuitants in receipt of monthly cheques had risen from 35 to 40 during the 12 months under review, the report stated, and the amount distributed in relief was £1443, as against £l2Bl for the previous year. Income from Investments was higher by £137 as a result of the .increase in the capita] by legacies. Last year it amounted to £l2lO. As on previous occasions, contributions from various bodies of nurses, amounting to £220 for the year, had bridged the gap between annual income and outgoings. If it were not for the nurses’ contributions, the fund would have had to restrict its grants. The public had contributed £lOB, as against £B3 in the previous year.
